The Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby Committee extends a sincere heartfelt thank you to all 169 incredible volunteers who made the 16th annual Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby an unforgettable success! Your dedication and hard work in various roles – from Hole Drilling, Auger Crew, Fish Measuring, Prize Distribution, Raffle Ticket Selling, Overnight Security, Pre-Derby Day Set Up, Fire Pit Zone, Ticket Scanning Area, Registration, Volunteer Pizza Distribution, On Ice Games to Grid Clean Up – truly made all the difference. Not only did you lend a hand, but you also helped raise funds for your chosen organization within our community.
Organizations that provided us with volunteers included the Eastman SnoPals, LdB Trails Association, 249 Beausejour Air Cadets, Pinawa Panthers High School Hockey Team, Alzheimer's Society, LdBSS Grad Committee, LdB Ski Club, LdB Wildlife Association, Canadian Liver Foundation, Fire & Water Music Festival, Manitoba Darts Zone 2, LdB Curling Club, LdB Fire Dept, LdB Lions Club, LdB Community Garden, LdB Food Bank, and Jack's Animal Rescue. We also extend our gratitude to the volunteers from ACCESS Credit Union & RBC for joining forces with us in this incredible endeavor. Your dedication to serving our community is truly commendable!
An honorable mention goes out to Santa Lucia Pizza of Lac du Bonnet for providing pizza for all the volunteers following their shifts! Absolutely incredible support. We extend our gratitude to Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries for generously supplying us with t-shirts, enhancing the visibility of our volunteers.
Together, we've made a positive impact that will be felt for years to come. Thank you for being the heart and soul of our event!
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
As part of the CVO Volunteer Workforce, you sign up to help support the organization that you work with and help produce another successful LDB ICE Fishing Derby event for the community of Lac du Bonnet. The LDB ICE Committee is committed to Lac du Bonnet and supports a variety of organizations and events through grants, bursaries, and paying CVO hours to organizations such as yours.
As part of the CVO Volunteer Workforce, you are representing your organization, the Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby, and the community of Lac du Bonnet! Let’s all put our best foot forward and show the hundreds of visitors that join us from outside the community the best that Lac du Bonnet has to offer.
HOW TO SIGN-UP FOR CVO
Getting set up as a Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby Community Volunteer Organization is quick and easy; just follow the steps below:
Register your group/organization with us by filling out the Registration Form or emailing Darlene Lamoureux, General Manager at gm@ldbice.ca .
Gather your friends, staff, family, neighbours, or whoever to volunteer for your non-profit group or organization.
Coordinate your shifts with the Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby.
Work your designated shifts & collect your fundraising dollars.

Every year the Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby relies on the support of its volunteers to help us put on the best event possible. Perhaps you didn’t know that we pay our volunteers Community Volunteer Organization Hours – CVO Hours.
CVO Hours are for local non-profit organizations and are part of how we reinvest the Derby profits back into our community! In 2023, the Derby paid organizations $18 per person-hour worked on their behalf! Fifteen organizations were paid a total of $11,723.00!
