  • In 2023, we reinvested over $24,073 back into the community through Community Volunteer Organization hours ($11,723), Grants ($10,000), Bursaries ($2,000) and Donations ($350). Over the past 14 years, $222,497 has been given back to the community.

  • The LdB Ice Fishing Derby is a non-profit organization raising funds for community groups in Lac du Bonnet and surrounding areas through a fun, family-oriented event that promotes Lac du Bonnet as a four season playground.

  • Yes you can use live bait. We will not have salted minnows for sale this year.

  • Electronic devices may be used at 10:00 a.m. for the determination of depth in selecting a hole, as well as during the Derby.

  • No. We predrill all of the holes the morning of the derby. All you need to do is show up and fish.

    If you plan on fishing in an ice tent, we’ll even do our best to accommodate your fishing group by drilling more holes in your tent area! Just flag down one of the volunteer drill teams, and ask them for a few more holes!

    Remember Tents and on Ice shelters CANNOT be put up until the official start of the derby at 11:30 am.

  • Our volunteer team works hard to ensure your arrival goes smoothly to get you on the ice as quickly as possible. When you arrive on the Derby site on the morning of the Derby, you will choose one of three options depending on your ticket situation:

    Ticket on Device

    If you have your Official Derby Ticket, you can line up at the entrance area where you will be required to show your Derby Ticket. You will be given a wristband which must be visible at all times. Anglers can get on the ice to choose a hole anytime after 10:00 am.

    Need to Purchase Tickets

    Tickets are available in the Registration Area starting at 8:00 am and will be available for purchase until 11:30 am on the morning of the Derby. Once you have your Official Derby Tickets, you may enter the Debry Site or line up at the Derby Entrance area.

  • Anglers are allowed entry onto the ice to select a hole at 10:00 am. Fishing is not allowed until the start of the Derby at 11:30 a.m.

  • Tickets are available in the Registration Area starting at 8:00 am and will be available for purchase until 11:30 am on the morning of the Derby. Once you have your Official Derby Tickets, you may enter the Derby Site or line up at the Derby Entrance area. Your electronic ticket will be scanned and you will be given a wristband which must be visible at all times.

  • Derby Day – February 24, 2024

    Ticket Sales – 8:00 am - Onsite

    Derby Check-in/Registration – Starts 8:00 am Derby Entrance

    Ice Access – 10:00 am choose a hole.

    Derby Start – 11:30 am - Drop Your Lines & Setup Shelters

    Random Prize Draws – 11:30 am to 2:30 pm – we’ll be conducting our random prize draws on the ice!

    Derby End – 2:30 pm

    Draws, Games, and Entertainment: 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm.

    Cash Prize Awards – start at 4:00 pm (or so, as our volunteers need some time to go through all the records!) We will announce all our Cash Prize Awards on the ice!

    Location – LdB ICE is hosted near the Lac du Bonnet Town Dock and Beach on Park Avenue; you can’t miss us!

  • Adults and Children can double their chances to win by purchasing a 2nd Hole Ticket along with their Adult or Child Ticket.

    A 2nd Hole Ticket allows you to fish up to two holes at the Derby. The 2nd Hole ticket must be in the same name as an angler who has an Adult or Child Ticket.

    Anglers with second hole ticket can win more prizes. Your name will be entered into our random prize draw twice, plus if you catch more than one fish for the Hidden Length and Time Cash Prizes, you could be eligible to win up to two cash prizes if your recorded lengths and times match.

    In 2023, one lucky lady won 2nd place with her Adult ticket (52 cm pike) and 3rd place with her Second Hole ticket (66 cm pike)!

  • We have partnered with Eventbrite, a leading ticketing platform, to enhance your ticket purchasing experience and provide you with a seamless way to access our event. Scan the QR code which brings you to our event on Eventbrite. You can find the QR code on the front page of our website. If you don’t have a phone to scan the QR code, we have created a link to our Eventbrite page. It is on the front page as well.

    Once you order tickets, you will receive an email with a QR code for each ticket ordered. These codes will be scanned as you enter the Derby entrance. You can print your QR code and bring the paper for scanning if you don’t have a phone.
