The mission of HEART is to provide resolution for grieving families and communities suffering loss due to drowning accidents in the most timely, efficient, and safe way possible. The 6-member team, consisting of Hutterites and non-Hutterites, have been actively involved in the search and recovery of loved ones across Canada since 2016.

HEART is specially trained and equipped to ensure that lost loved ones are returned to their grieving families, while saving others from the trauma of such a discovery. HEART is a specialized emergency response team who works closely with law enforcement and other emergency response agencies. Having HEART available at a moments notice frees up local emergency responders to focus on other emergencies.

HEART offers their services to anyone in need, free of charge. The increased awareness of HEART’s capabilities has resulted in a substantial rise in the number of calls for aid regarding search and recovery efforts. Being able to clear lake bottoms faster allows them to find missing loved ones, therefore giving families closure and the means to move forward into the next stages of grief.
